Green & Galvanized Christmas Tablescape

A simple, no fuss Christmas tablescape with fresh greens and beautiful antique metal accents

This weekend I started decorating little spaces around the farmhouse for Christmas, and we even got our first flurries of the season, so my Christmas spirit is officially kicking into high gear now! I started in the dining room and worked on a little Christmas tablescape to ease myself into decorating mode, and what I came up with is this simple, yet festive theme featuring greenery and gorgeous antique galvanized metal. I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to go when I started, but little by little it all came together and ended up being so much cuter than I imagined!

For awhile now I’ve been leaning towards more simple decor that doesn’t cost me a lot of time or money, and you guys have really responded to this saying how much you enjoy this kind of decorating inspiration. I think sometimes we get overwhelmed with all the incredibly beautiful and highly styled homes we see on social media, which I fully admit that I love to look at and get so inspired by! But I also know that for my family, my schedule, and my budget (not to mention my sanity), I gravitate towards a more attainable look that doesn’t overwhelm me and actually soothes me. I think that’s why so many of you have reached out saying that you love the “simplicity” I’ve been sharing lately… it feels attainable. To anyone on any budget no matter what their level of decorating skills may be. That’s the inspiration I want to keep sharing with you all, and this tablescape certainly falls into that category.

I started with the same table runner I bought earlier this fall, which I love and have kept out ever since it came home. I used simple white plates, bowls, and linen napkins and added a pine clipping from my backyard on top of each napkin for decoration. I tied a little tag onto each pine sprig with ribbon for a simple, but sweet name tag. Even if you’re keeping the table decor simple, little handmade touches like name tags are such a special way to welcome guests for a meal during the holidays.

For the centerpiece I grabbed an old metal bucket from my garage and set a faux tree inside. I think there’s nothing wrong with using a mix of fresh and faux greenery not just at Christmas time, but any time of year. The faux lasts forever, and the natural greenery brings in a fresh, fragrant touch without as much clean-up using natural greenery alone.

Another thing I transitioned from our fall decor to our Christmas decor were these gorgeous velvet green pillows. Velvet is such a rich, soft, luxurious fabric for the winter months, and the deep green color went perfectly with my tablescape. You may also remember seeing these big rusty metal letters in my bedroom a few years ago during the holidays, and I LOVE how they look on the wall in our dining room now! A little bit of metal… a little bit of greenery… the perfect simple Christmas table.

I love your real “Candleabra”. Do you ever light the candles in it? I am never lucky at finding beauties like that.

I’m so glad you put the evergreen leaves right on the table! They look amazing!
