Lemon Inspired Summer Table Setting

Designer and blogger Liz Fourez shows how to put together a simple, but charming lemon inspired table setting for summer.

In partnership with Walmart | It’s been a busy summer of checking outdoor projects off the to-do list, and we’re finally starting to be able to sit back and enjoy all our hard work. First I stained the deck, which was quite an enormous project that I’ve been putting off for several years. Then I cleaned all our outdoor pillows and cushions, restored and protected our outdoor wood furniture, and finally planted tons of plants and flowers in pots all across the deck and yard.

The boys and I have spent a lot of time hanging out on the deck lately, and I’ve always believed in making the outside of our home feel just as cozy and inviting as the inside. My youngest son, Wyatt, loves lemons, and I found the cutest items for setting our outdoor table from Walmart Home recently. While the boys may not fully appreciate the beauty and attention that goes into creating a pretty table setting, I wanted to share this darling idea with you to inspire your summer gatherings as well!

The idea for this table actually started from a summer candle I bought with the cutest citrus design that inspired my yellow and aqua lemon theme.

I used a yellow table runner in the cutest buffalo check pattern that feels perfect for a summer picnic. What I love about this particular runner is that it comes six colors and four different lengths, so I was actually able to find one to fit our extra long outdoor table.

To accent the yellow, I bought a set of aqua blue plates and silverware that I love for our less formal outdoor dinners. I may just have to find an excuse to create some kind of pink themed table setting in the future because they have a pink set of silverware too!

I used lemon kitchen towels as a napkin at each place setting, and Walmart also has lemon placemats, tablecloths, and a darling lemon apron as well.

On the little outdoor console table I built (you can find the tutorial here), I created a little beverage and treat station with this cute glass drink dispenser, a plate of lemon muffins and lemon cake, and the candle that initially sparked my inspiration.

The glass pitcher, white oval serving tray, and drinking glasses were also finds from Walmart, and I grabbed a few bags of lemons to use both as decor and to add flavor to our drinks and dishes. I like to keep things as simple and natural as possible when decorating, so even though I went a little more bold and playful than I usually do with the summer colors and motif, a simple bowl full of lemons is the perfect easy centerpiece.

I’ve shared several posts in the past about my favorite Walmart finds, including this one with tons of home decor items at a really great price. I also found the best inexpensive solution for a mirror/wall art in my son’s bedroom that we just gave a dramatic makeover to. Have you seen the room I painted BLACK in our home? Oh, and this floor lamp continues to be one of the most frequently purchased items I’ve shared in the last few years! I love when I find stylish, affordable pieces for our home and our family that exceed my expectations!
