I’ve already decked the halls in my kitchen, dining room and living room, and this week I finally got to work on my master bedroom, which might be my favorite space to decorate in the whole house. There is something so cozy about this room, and I absolutely adore the soft white and cream color palette I decided to go with this Christmas. It’s soothing and bright and cheerful and the perfect backdrop for a little baby Christmas tree in the corner of the room!
All the creamy whites in the bedding, rug, tree skirt, walls and lace curtains are accented with natural wood tones from the faux wood beam above the bed, pinecones on the tree and my beautiful new nightstands I just got from Birch Lane. I loved my last pair of nightstands, but I was ready for something different and a little bit larger. The weathered wood fits in perfectly with my farmhouse bedroom, and the knobs on the drawers look great next to my bed frame. I’m so happy with them!
The tree decorations are similar to what I did last year, but I did add white poinsettia stems, burlap and lace ribbon and little pinecone gnome ornaments I made years ago that are too cute for words. Normally I hang the stockings at the end of my bed, but this year I thought it would be fun to have them on the wall behind the tree. I went to the store to look for a long and skinny birch log, but they were all out. So I went for the next best thing… a stick from my backyard hung on two nails. Simple and didn’t cost me a penny!
As I was finishing up the room, I thought about hanging a garland all across the wood beam and hanging down the walls, which could either be really pretty or way too much. Since I would need probably 24 feet of garland or better and it would be a beast to hang by myself, I decided this year I’d skip that idea and revisit it again next Christmas. But I did add a little something to dress up the curtains on either side of my bed… a simple strand of pearl garland that almost feels like jewelry for my bedroom, which makes the little girl inside me squeal with delight. I screwed a few cup hooks on the inside of the wood beam and hung the pearls on the hooks at various lengths. I thought this was such a fun way to dress the space up for the holidays!
Now that the house is all decorated for the holidays, I’m going to focus on getting my shopping done and also photographing the house at night with all the Christmas lights on and candles lit.
